The "ICF VISION" Parallels two historic Biblical passages recorded in Psalm 137 and Jeremiah 29:1-4. The Psalmist captures the mood of a people held in exile in Babylon; a strange land. A question was asked by the captives who sat weeping by the rivers. They asked, "how can we sing the Lord's song in the strange land?" An answer of Hope from God came to the oppressed people through the Prophet Jeremiah as recorded in Chapter 29:1-7. They were instructed to 1) Build houses (v5); 2) Settle down (v5); 3) Plant Gardens (v5); 4) Marry and have children (v6); 5) Work for the good of all (v7); and 6)Pray to God (v7). It is within this context that a vision was given to Reverend Bill Harris in 1986, known as "the ICF vision." The vision stands on four Pillars based on the message as recorded in Jeremiah.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE FOUR PILLARS

Spiritual
(verse 7: Pray to God)
This Pillar affords individuals an opportunity to worship God in the context of their cultural experience using the Holy Bible as the "Word of God."
Preaching the Word; Fasting; and Praying without ceasing; Members are expected to
Worship Regularly; Give Generously; Serve Eagerly;
and Live Worthily.

Cultural
(verse 7: Seek Peace)
This Pillar focuses on the positive aspects of the culture in terms of morals, values, and heritage. This is accomplished by exposing the larger community (particularly the youth) to their rich heritage.

Social
(verse 6: Take Wives Marry; verse7: Seek Peace)
This Pillar allows a forum for formal and informal socialization, education, fellowship,  caring, and support (The Body of Christ).

Economic
( verse 5: Build Houses.. Plant Gardens)
Through this Pillar the Church affirms that Christ desires that we have life more abundantly. We establish and promote economic opportunities so that individuals and families enjoy the fullness of what life has to offer.
